New versions of ttylinux are available.

§ Version 9.3 is available for ARM armv5tej.

§ Version 11.1 is available for Macintosh G3/G4 PowerPC 74x/75x.

These releases might be a little preliminary, but I do not have actual target systems for these builds; I need your patience and help in evaluating these and reporting issues.

New versions of ttylinux are available.

§ Version 9.2 is available for i486.

§ Version 11.0 is available for i686 and x86_64.

This release adds boot parameters for starting Ethernet networking, setting the time zone and a few other things. busybox, e2fsprogs and iptables are updated to their latest versions. Version 11.0 i686 and x86_64 updates glibc from 2.9 to 2.11.

Version 10.0 RC1 of ttylinux available for i486.

I would love to hear any reports of 10.0 RC1 working, or not working, on an actual 486 CPU system.

This release updates glibc from 2.9 to 2.11 and busybox, e2fsprogs and iptables to their latest versions. Also, there now are several boot options. This release should be stable, but will be called RC1 until I finish testing this i486 build, finish testing the x86_64 build and finish the User Guide.

Version 9.1 of ttylinux available for i486 and x86_64.

This release updates the kernel to enable USB HID support, primarily for USB keyboards, and contains some busybox crond support.

2009-09-07

Version 9.0 of ttylinux available for i486 and x86_64.

This release updates the kernel from 2.6.20 to 2.6.30.5, glibc from 2.8 to 2.9 and busybox, dropbear, e2fsprogs and iptables to their latest versions. The interesting enhancements in version 9 RC1 are all retained.

Version 9 RC1 of ttylinux available for i486 and x86_64.
[edit 2009-08-21 for x86_64]

This release updates glibc from 2.8 to 2.9 and busybox, dropbear, e2fsprogs and iptables to their latest versions. This release should be stable, but will be called RC1 until the User Guide update is finished.

This release has interesting enhancements:

§ FTP and TFTP servers are started when the system boots.

§ Pacman can install directly from a repository via HTTP with http://ttylinux.net/ as the default repository.

§ When installed onto a flash disk, such as a USB memory stick, with the ttylinux-flash script, the ttylinux then booted from flash disk will run a user-maintained startup script that is on the flash disk.

Version 8.1 of ttylinux released.

This release updates glibc from 2.7 to 2.8 and bash, busybox and e2fsprogs to their latest versions. The User Guide for version 8.0 still applies for version 8.1.

For documentation of the changes between the different ttylinux versions, please refer to the ChangeLog file from the Documents page.

Version 8.0 of ttylinux released.

A project milestone of sorts: this is the first release, barely 6 weeks after responsibility for the project was transfered from project creator Pascal Schmidt to me, the new maintainer Douglas Jerome.

This release updates busybox, dropbear, e2fsprogs, and iptables to their latest versions. All of the system initialization and management scripts are revised. The CD-ROM image has a new script that puts a bootable system on a flash disk. If you are accustom to ttylinux you should read the ChangeLog. Also, the User Guide is re-written for version 8.0.

The source distribution that builds the ttylinux system is now based upon an internal cross-compiler project that is included in the source distribution. Debian is no longer used to develop ttylinux and is not required to build ttylinux.

Version 7.0 of ttylinux released. This release updates bash, busybox, e2fsprogs, glibc, and iptables to their latest versions.

The increased size of glibc 2.7 made necessary a change of the filesystem size from 4M to 8M. This might be regrettable, but the added space gives us some more breathing room. A small portion of the additional room has been used for adding the libptread threading library to the subset of glibc that gets installed with ttylinux.

2007-10-30

Version 6.2 of ttylinux released. This release updates bash, busybox, e2fsprogs, dropbear, and glibc to their latest versions.

2007-07-07

Version 6.1 of ttylinux released. This release updates bash, busybox, e2fsprogs, and iptables to their latest versions.

2007-03-18

Version 6.0 of ttylinux released. This release updates bash, busybox, dropbear, glibc, and lilo to their latest versions. The major version number of the distribution was changed because of the glibc version change.

The glibc update also has the consequence that support for 386 class machines had to be dropped. The minimum requirement for ttylinux is now a 486SX processor. The latest ttylinux version with 386 support will remain available for download.

2006-12-31

Version 5.3 of ttylinux released. This release updates bash, busybox, iptables, and ncurses to their latest versions.

The busybox package contains the new "killall5" and "resize" applets. Additionally, this version of busybox supports a lot more command line switches for the most common utilities.
